I trust my dogs implicitly. We have an old AmStaff (Rowan) who loves everyone, especially children. One day my husband’s uncle visited with his new wife and Rowan stiffened up and wouldn’t stop growling at her. We found out later that she was Not a good person. In the 10 years she’s been with us, that’s the only person she’s negatively reacted to.
